I thought that crossing ONLY BELIEVE with a heavily ruffled parent might give rise to an improved new daylily. When ELLIS POWELL first bloomed as a seedling I was ecstatic. Here it was a new double edged flower of extravagant ruffling and beauty. For its six years in testing it has never been a disappointment- always consistently beautiful and a great performer. While the flower does not even compare to the person for whom it is named, we are so very pleased to have been allowed to use his name for it. With 4 way branching and 23 buds per scape and repeating scapes the garden is blessed with blooms of grace and charm for a long season. Fertile both ways easily.
