TET 4266-A (Shelter Cove x Spectral Elegance) 37” MRe. emo. fr. Ev. 6” x 3 ¼” x 2”. 5-way branching (3 laterals + terminal Y) 35-40 buds. Every once in a while fortune smiles on a cross. Looking to make whites and pastels fancy, I was crossing SPECTRAL ELEGANCE onto a variety of the pastels when I spotted a single bloom of SHELTER COVE and thought well…maybe… From that single pod with about 5 seeds came ELOQUENT CAY. Much taller than either parent ELOQUENT CAY is almost 40” tall. The flowers are a deeply sculpted bright melon gold with a deep green throat and occasional green gold edge. Like most melons it seems to get prettier as the sun plays on the flower to bring out the pink tones. Fertile both ways.
