Captain Pete
(Sattelmeier 2014)
Seedling 25-511A: Blue Beat (Stamile, 2008) x Linda Sierra (Peat, 2008)
Height 33" (83.8cm), bloom 5" (12.7 cm), Petals 2.75"W x 2.5"L, season M, Rebloom, Tetraploid, NFrag., 30+ buds, 5 way branches.
Captain Pete Daylily reminded me of the blue water while I was taking a sailing class with Captain Pete as the sailing instructor in Panama City Florida. I could not think of a better name to name it after seeing all the blue water while sailing. The vivid blue large eye stands out on the cranberry background with the very nice deep colored veining going thru both colors on the petals. The sepals are unusual in that they are a deeper cranberry and give it additional depth of color. Repeats blooms. It has very nicely spaced 5 way plus branching with Y branching at the top which creates a well branched scape that blooms well above the foliage. It has a light wire blue edge on the petals and a green / yellow throat. Easy seed set. Fertile both ways.
